This is a long overdue review but wanted to make sure we write it to emphasize how impressed we were with our stays at Ritz. Yes the location is great and the rooms are luxurious but what makes this hotel special is the staff. Joanne at the concierge desk in particular is so thoughtful and goes the extra mile to understand guests and exceed expectations. We have seen this over and over again. Ritz is our favorite getaway because of people like Joann. For example, during this stay, she not only got us reservations at a difficult-to-get restaurant but also had a special gift waiting because were celebrating a special event. Thank you Joann and the entire Ritz team for making our stays at your hotel always special!

Coming from another corporation, this is the worst hotel to deal with, worse than a 1 star hotel. We book an associate here twice a year and it’s always the same story: they can’t perform basic functions like sending a credit authorization form for a credit card. They’ve also previously sent another guest’s reservation to us who we didn’t know, instead of our guest’s, and leaked their personal information. They are totally unaccommodating over the phone. After you book, you have to spend hours on the phone to ask for a simple request. The manager doesn’t understand simple basic things that businesses should accommodate their customers. The place is a sham, with a fancy looking building but a terrible team managing it or running it, which is worse than that at a 1 star hotel. If you’re a business person, spare yourself the terrible service and find another 5 star hotel in the area that lives up to the standards, and knows how to run basic functions or understand that service is about accommodating the customer. The Langham for instance is a terrific hotel and their service is excellent and they live up to their reputation (and that’s why their google star rating is obviously higher). P.S. To those who will respond to this review with an automated message, please spare us the automated response, we’ve already spoken to your manager who was terrible. This is the last time we will agree to book our associate at the Ritz in Chicago. It’s going to be the Langham or equivalent.

I found the bad reviews reflect a time in travel during the Pandemic when the world was in chaos and they don't reflect the amazing service and quality that is synonymous Ritz Carlton. We found it a great place to stay in Chicago! The hotel is centrally located on the Magnificant Mile with great shopping, dining, and other activities within walking distance. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure every guest stay is positive. The rooms are beautiful, clean and the beds are extremely comfortable.

I started with a standard room that honestly didn’t knock my socks off, but I was fortunate enough to upgrade to a suite the following day. That made a world of difference. Everything appeared relatively new and amazingly clean, the room was way more than I needed given that I was on a solo trip, but I enjoyed every minute of it. The views of the lake, Northwestern University and downtown were really nice too. However, when visiting Chicago, I definitely prefer some other downtown hotel options when it comes to standard sized rooms.
